Hi does anyone know the Front Hub nut Touque setting for a 2005 mk5 golf gti??
-
Monsterous iirc, something in the region of 175lb/ft
-
According to Haynes:
Front hub nut: 265Nm 195lbf ft

I recall something on this about it being a strech bolt.
When i took mine off i had a new bolt and threadlocker then put the bolt as tight as i could manage.
Hope this helps

^ Yes I think it is, you should replace it... iirc there was a newer version that didn't require as much torqueing.
-
You need to tighten the nut with the wheel off the ground (get someone to stand on the brake pedal)
Otherwise you can damage the bearing
-
If you've got the newer 12 point axle bolt then it's 70nm/52ftlb + 90° turn when you lower the car onto its wheels.

I don't know what Haynes that info came from but if you use the search here and a quick google search you'll find that the older hexagonal axle bolt is 200nm/148ftlb + 180° turn.

I just had a look on autodata and that's saying 200nm + 180 degrees and make sure you use new nuts/bolts.
