I got some referb monza alloys from PRISTINE via a bodywork shop - they exchange yours for others, different colours etc etc. anyway got the black inside and chrome outer colour (seemed smart), within 5 ish months water enters through broken lacker from the inside cap of the alloys, later to establish they know this is an issue with all referbs this colour :s. anyone considering Pristine *avoid*.
They now have me stuffed saying they will change them for a discounted rate :s so I have no option but to get more....
Any opinions on colours for a black standard mk5 gti?! Apparently pure paint colours won't have the same issue.
Cheers

Pristine is based in croydon right? i was planning to go there and spoke to them on the phone.
they only guarentee the diamond cut finish for three months because of this.. the guy on the phone was very honest and said even though they look stunning when finished, they just dont last. hence the short warranty! although i havnt got mined booked in yet, persuaded me to go for a powdercoat finish as they are that much more durable.
so its not really down to the garage, they know its an issue. everyone with monzas should or will realise at somepoint. its just one of those things my man.

Judging from very recent experience as I'm currently sorting out a refurb for my Monzas pretty much everywhere I spoke to gave me a similar response, for this reason I'm going with a powder coated finish instead.
I would like to think that VW have sorted this out by now as most of the wheels in the range nowadays are the same finish.

This was my main resaon for going for powder coating as I knew the diamond cut wouldn't last,I opted for anthracite on my Diamond Black car.
Do a search for members wheel colour options..

Cheers for the replies!
Yeah I found out after that the warranty was only 3 months :/ just reckon they shud be lasting longer but never mind I guess.
Those Anthracite ones on google look pretty sweet, any chance you have a photo of yours on ya black car?

As you said too yes just avoid the chrome finish - something to do with the lacker not sticking properly on the machine finished metal compared to a paint primer to grip on

I dont know who done mine as the dealer (Western VW GTI World , Edinburgh) got them all refurbed before I picked the car up last October , but mine still look great , no worming as yet.

I had one of Monza shadows refurbed through wheelworks in crawley who use lepsons and that was still fine after a year when I traded my mk5 (guess its the luck of the draw)
If I get any go again I will go anthracite and forget about the diamond cut finish (life's too short to worry about white worm :fighting:)

I went for a smoked chrome powder coat. Very happy with the results and don't miss the diamond cut look :happy2:
