Title: Sloppy steering.
Post by: keano on June 30, 2013, 07:57:30 pm
Hello chaps.

I'm suffering from abit of sloppy steering! :(

The car just doesn't feel as sharp as it used to and I'm not as confident in its handling ability as I used to be.

The only handling modifications I have made are the FK Highsports coilovers. (Yes I know not too great!)

Is there anything in particular that would sharpen the steering up or anything I should look at for wear?

Ps. The car is aligned, wheels are balanced and pressures are okay :)

Hi Nick,

Bushes or alignment could ruin your steering. May be worth getting the geometry checked and ask them to check for play in any of the bushes while they have it on the ramps  :happy2:

Jack the front wheels up and check for free play ie track rod  end or ball joint

Cheers guys. Is there a bush in particular?

The top mounts have also got 70k on them! :scared:

Do they play a big part?

I had the exact same symptom with my ed30 a year ago. Fitted superpro bushes which fixed the issue. Can check the part no tomorrow or you can ring tsr on Somerset who will almost certainly know the part no.
