Been to view and edition 30 today. its an 2007 56 plate done 21k and the right hand side of the seat didnt look like it had done 21k. it looked like it had muck inside the grain of the leather. it mite of never had the seat clean/treated. it may well clean up ok,
just wondered how well the leather wears? what products used to clean and treat the leather?
-
my leathers wearing ok and i do mainly short journeys but i take care when getting in and out. i think vw`s tend to have soft and not the best quality leather so can wear easily
-
The leather is known for wearing fast, some people have has bolsters replaced and in some cases new seats, but think this was on nearly new cars.
As for products, Gliptone is THE best, cleaner and feed. Just so happen to have some in my garage doing nothing
-
from new i liquid leather mine bolsters everytime i clean the inside and it still looks like new :happy2:
-
gliptone for me too , but i always lift myself in and out of the car to avoid sitting on the bolsters , ive always done this though , wish others would ! :rolleye:
-
Didnt no that you could change the bolsters. this could be an option if i buy the car. rest of the interior is like new.
quessing i would have to get this from the stealers,
any 1 know what the bolsters cost?
or part no.?
-
mine only has about 7k miles and looks a bit wrinkly on the right hand side of the driers bolster, but it doesnt look to be getting any worse
-
Mine at 30000 miles

What would people say is the best leather cleaner and treatment? My interior is starting to get little wrinkles but is not bad. I just dont want it to get any worse! I currently use a cleaner and shampoo from halfords which i already had but it does not seem to make alot of difference!
Any recommendations and where to get it cheapish! :happy2:

Is this a good price?
Thanks :happy2:

we had an issue with the leather bolster on the drivers seat in the pirelli, replacement from VW was even worse, dealers swapped the drivers seat for us and its wearing well :happy2:
-
I bought a bottle of genuine VW leather treatment for £4, rubbed it in to keep it nice and fresh.
-
Ollie,
I have always used Gliptone, very good stuff!!!!
-
Mine at 104,000 miles pretty pleased with how they have lasted, just use normal household leather stuff

Look at LTT. Far superior compared to the likes of Glipitone but more expensive too.
The best leather is kept for audis so VW leather is pretty crap. I know one forumite had more wear in his leather seats after 20k than on his bmw at 50k.
-
I used to use Gliptone, it's good. But now i use Raceglaze Leather Balm and it's even better.

Where did you get that stuff from??? (Raceglaze Leather Balm )

my edition 30 drivers seat is starting to wear,a company called capital seating who make fitted seat covers are borrowing my passenger seat next week so they can make a pattern and then will be forsale shortly

Who sells this? My Recaros are in pretty good nick for their age but I'm keen to keep them looking that way and i dont mind spending a few bob to do so - the leather in some of the cars I've looked at lately was shocking!
