Title: Looking for a Golf R
Post by: Kiwi on July 03, 2013, 05:09:37 pm

Looking to change from my 5 door Eddy to a 5 door Golf R  :happy2: Seems to be a tough task, 3 out of 4 dealers I have called about cars they are advertising have told me they had been sold, and due for collection, but yet 4 days later they still advertising the cars, that really bugs me.

Been on Autotrader, Ebay, Piston Heads and even tried the RForum......................

I want it in White, but if I can't get the spec I want in white, then I'll just get the car fully wrapped in white instead, as for me it's all about the spec of the car to start with.

Anyone got any ideas?

Just keep looking mate and be patient. It took me over a year to find my Edition 30 and in that time I only viewed two other cars.

Sods law if you settle for a slightly different spec than your looking for, the perfect car will pop up for sale a week later

What spec do you need?

I would like to find a car with the following spec, which isn't to far off what the Eddy has.............

Ideal Car:-

VW Golf R in Candy White,
5 Door,
DSG,
Sunroof,
Xenon's,
19" Gloss Black Talladega,
Heated Half Leather/Alcantara Recaro Bucket Seats,
Front and Rear Parking Sensors With Visual Display/Audio,
Bluetooth Connection,
Interface Media Connection(Arm-Rest),
Adaptive Chassis Control Sports, Comfort and Normal,
Dynaudio 8 speaker upgrade,
Cruise Control,

That's about it for spec  :happy2:

Hoping to find one for under £30K

I wouldn't bother with adaptive chassis, and the black alloys, you can always get them powder coated black yourself.

I really need a 5 door as we have 2 young kids, and a 3 door would be a pain, with them getting in and out of the back.

But thankyou anyway

Sold my R in under 20 mins on the R forum,   If I had to be really honest  it isn't that special nice yes but on reflection I much prefer my E92 BMW  3.0 Diesel

You have a nice ED30 keep that and the money

Sorry and all that, but I've had an Ed30, Ed35 and currently have an R and there is no comparison.  The R is better in every respect, end of, IMHO.

A lot of american folk seem to think that S1/S2/S2+ Ed's are much quicker than the equivalently tuned R's from everything but launch, due to weight and drive losses.
