Title: LM Reps
Post by: rdfcpete on August 16, 2009, 06:06:57 pm
I'm aware a lot of the BBS reps will be made out of cheaper metal and will be heavier than the real mccoys.

Was keen to find out if anyone had experience with this seller before? Their ebay feedbacks' not great, but at that price, I was mildly interest and thought I'd get your opinions first.

The main problem is I don't have a massive budget for the wheels themselves, partly due to tyre costs. I'm never going budget after a couple of learning curves, quite literally
Pointers appreciated.

Ta,
Pete.

He says they weigh about 10kg. Is that light for a wheel?

I'd say that 10kg is a bit ambitious for LM reps at 18" Unless they are made of compressed bottle tops!

Team Dynamics are 9kg in that size and are popular because the are very light for the size.

You pay for what you get, hence why I've never put replica whhels on any of my cars.

375 is bloody cheap and the quality will reflect this

Most reps come in at around 12 to 15kg = 26 to 33lb

Even original Monza 2's with their hollow construction still weigh around 28lb.

Whats the opinion on going 18" or 19"?????????

I would say 18"

For handling, ride & affordable tyre renewals, I'd say 18" all the way.

For the drug dealer image, 19"s will win all day long.

I didn't know drug dealers were wearing 19in LM reps nowadays

I thought the pit bull was the accessory of choice.  :signLOL:

^ Hehe

On an off note, what do these look like on A3/TT's?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110375740930&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I'm not even sure which models they come OEM on, I hate ebay listers not listing which wheels they are a replica of :/

Did anyone dive into the LM reps buy in the end?

3 recent feedback's suggest his wheels are pukka tbh, no reason for him to sell sh1t, despite the fact his overall feedback isn't perfect.
Tempted to take a £400 gamble...

i saw these wheels in the flesh the other week. the LM in 18 look toss. the spokes arnt flat and come out at the hub. the 19's look right but the paint had runs in and the imitation rim bolts looked really cheep and tacky, i defo wouldnt buy them. they also had some silver bbs CH copies in 18 and 19, these looked spot on nice paint job felt really light and even had the bbs logo between the spokes. they were £375 in 18 and he could get black ones  with a silver lip for £400 to fit the mk5.

Useful stuff ^, thanks for the heads up.
In conclusion then; the CH's = yes, LM's = no  :happy2:

How do you know the sellers out of interest if you don't mind BMX?

they sell on ebay, but have a shop in cleckheaton near bradford. LK performance. it used to be the old larkspeed years ago when i were a lad. i would recomend seeing them in the flesh. the pictures look alot better than the actual item
