Title: Turbo replacement
Post by: bigdave1978 on July 05, 2013, 09:01:22 am
My turbo has started to smoke so I have bought a second hand turbo from a site member and am going to change them over at the weekend and was just wondering will I have to have the car mapped again. The car is stage 1 at the moment (275 bhp)
Thanks David

If its the same turbo, ie replacing a ko3 with a ko3 should be no need to have it mapped again.

You might also want to think about replacing the oil lines at the same time.

Just out of interest how are you getting 275bhp from a stage 1 remap? What map is it?

Print out really means nothing as dynos can vary so much. If you have a k03 turbo then 275bhp is not possible with just a stage 1 map.

Lol I had a print out from psi tuning after they did 1/2 a job on my turbo upgrade, it said 350bhp. Only not sure how that could be accurate with 3cylinders and the wrong map they loaded on.

Numbers is just willy waving anyway, providing your happy with the map and its delivery of power I wouldn't worry.

no bother mate  but just for talk sake what would you call stage 1. My car has a 3" down pipe with a decat running into a miltek exhaust, itg induction kit and the united motor sport map to me thats all stage 1 mods , am I wrong ?

Sounds like stage 2 hardware with a stage 1 map?

The decat and intake will help claim more power than a stage 1 with standard hardware which helps your claim. 260-265bhp I'd guess is realistic for that setup  :happy2:
