I went to my parents yesterday - parked the car on the drive - was there maybe 40 minutes. Found a wet match on the driveway. Thought nothing of it as d been running the a/c & thought it was maybe just the rad with ice on it. Went to parents today to sort out a parcel that arrived - patch is still there!! Check everything over - oil level is fine, brake fluid checks out fine too. Only thing I noticed is that the radiator cap was loose a bit. Could that have caused it?? I've refilled the coolant and retightened the cap. See if it goes loose again

Where abouts is the wet patch in relation to the car?
-
Towards the back of the front axle, maybe inline with the front bulkhead approx
-
I suspect this is from using the ac in this weather.
-
I thought that too - but why does the mark linger??

Don't know but I have a big damp patch on my garage floor because of it.

Hmm!!! Investigations continue!!

Cracked washer bottle? Although this would be a lot farther forward. If not A/C, just keep an eye on your fluids...
You can usually tell if it's oil/coolant/brake fluid by colour/smell etc. so which is it?
-
It didn't really have a smell/feel to it
-
Most likely condensation.. don't use the AC and I'm sure it would go away.
The washer bottle would be a small leak on the front right of your car infront of the wheel. IE no-where near where the OP reports a problem!
If it smells of nothing and has no feeling of oil/lubricity then don't worry

As I said.

Ok - investigations continue as leak was getting worse - plus still loosing coolant - think its coming from the water pump now!! Got the car up in the air, undertray off - lots of pinky sticky feeling fluid everywhere!! Just had timing belt and water pump done recently, so it's going back to them this afternoon! :-( just what I didn't need, I'm going on holiday in 2 weeks - plus I'd saved up some money to buy an immaculate mk2 golf GTi 8v - that's now on the rocks!!
-
could be steering rack fluid?
-
Nope, there is coolant all over the under tray as well
-
So it's coolant.
Job done.
