Title: Possible PCV failing?
Post by: Craigh1983 on July 13, 2013, 07:33:52 pm
Hi guys,

Have a stage 1 remap and recently had a new turbo and dv valve change. Car pulled like a train. Recently I have noticed it doesn't seem to pull as much when I put my foot down.

So I thought I'd try taking out the oil dip stick to see if the car would hunt. When first taking it out the engine grunted slightly and then very slightly started to rev a little faster but it didn't really start to chug a lot like I remember it doing before.

Could this be a sign that the pcv has had it?

Cheers

Craigh

Remove your engine cover and try a blow back test to see if the valve leaks?. I would check that before parting with your 35 hard earned.

You will feel a ball valve feeling which only should allow air flow In one direction. If you don't, then it's duff

One more thing. Do I do that with the engine running or turned off?

Thanks

Turned off...   Could be interesting if you did with it on though..

You might get a whiff of oil vapour when you check it ok, so have the mouthwash to hand
