Hi all, I have the very basic, non mp3 playing, no aux etc headunit in my mk5 GTI. Im desperately looking for a good upgrade that can just be plugged in and away to go. Would love to hear your feedback on what you have and what you think is the best "Standard" looking, non Sat-Nav, double din headunit for a mk5 Golf.
Cheers in advance.

Forgot to mention that its a 2005 model.. Would also like info on if the unit would need to have the "power drain" workaround etc.
Thanks.

Best OEM non Sat Nav head unit is the RCD510 but you will need a new Gateway to keep the dreaded battery drain at bay. For pre coded Gateways speak to Eddie-NL

Think you mean the RCD510 bud, the 500 is the integrated CD changer version of what he already has.
The RCD315 looks ok too, again it'll need an updated CAN

Well spotted - corrected :)

Thanks for the input so far guys.. Mine isnt the CD changer version. I believe (guessing and looking at pictures on google) I have the very basic RCD300.
Have been reading and wondering about how the whole "Gateway" "Can" thing so will do some more research. How easy are they to update/change or whatever it is that needs to be done? Ive seen the Fuse trick on here but dont like the idea of having some wire with a fuse in it connecting stuff together :scared:
