i dont like the weird intercooler setups on are cars want to get rid of the oem position one completley.. whats stopping us? isit just the fact the aircon radiator bolts to it?
-
Is it the location you don't like next to the hot rad? Do you want to move it forward for the direct cold air.
-
yes mate basically i want 1 intercooler which sits at the front like the twintercooler.. aircon is being removed so nota prob having to bolt the A/C radiator upto the old i/c
-
Well. Remove the air con and rad, and put a THS intercooler on.
The forge twintercooler on its own would probably be too small to run on its own.
-
If you are getting rid of the aircon then there is nothing stopping flow to the cooler. Simples :happy2:
-
see what you mean.. wanted it sitting right at the front so the ths wouldnt be no good and the twintercooler isnt going to be being used righwig..
may just get the ths though.. but thats the only thing stopping the intercooler being remove though right? the aircon rad?
-
To be fair on most logs I've seen the temps looked pretty decent whether running an upgraded IC in the standard position or twintercooler, no doubt removing the AC will help though.
-
I believe the best set up for the edition 30 is the s3 intercooler with the twintercooler, I went with the THS but Given all the info the twintercooler & s3 seemed to give slightly better results in some respects but the differance was marginal

this is the set up i have, even in this hot weather, no heatsoak issues :jumpmove:

im going to be running approx 550hp so ill look into it more.. pain in the ass the intercooler setup on are cars lol just want one big one on the front its doable i know bsh make a kit and they run it on there 500whp gti.. but they leave the unused intercooler just hanging there.. so wanted to know what was stopping it being removed completley
-
Your lucky with these cars having the engine in the wrong place, it means the cooler is in the correct place. :rolleye:
I used to run the S3 with the forge but my car had nowhere near your bhp. Just based on other Mk 5 builds charge cooling isn't necessary or we would have heard of them. I would try the forge and the S3 first with everything wrapped in heat reflective materials.
-
The ac and the water rad both bolt to the intercooler. The intercooler is the part that's fixed to the slam panel. Without the cooler there, the rads would just be left floating.
-
So you would need some brackets to support the Radiator...
Oh and THS with no a/c rad looks sweet..
