Title: Replacing Alloy VW Badges
Post by: nelmser on July 18, 2013, 08:26:37 pm
Just bought these from eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271225756624?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271225756624?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)

Turns out I bought the wrong size so I'll have to reorder....

Are these easy to fit? I don't really want to remove the wheels... They look like they can just clip in?

It's a lot easier it you remove the wheels as they just push out from behind. You can use a flathead or similar to tease them out but you run the risk of damage.

If the old ones are finished (whiteworm) just drill a small hole in them - this allows you to pull them off (your prefered method - small screw and Pliers for me) without removing the wheels - new ones then just press in by hand!

Job done in minutes, if not and you want to keep the old ones - wheels off and knock out from the rear of the wheel.

As above, if they have whiteworm then drill a wee hole (carefully) and Roberts your mothers brother. If you want to keep them. Then use a plastic trim tool.

Best measure the ones fitted  - 65mm outside diameter rings a bell though!

Size is 65mm outside and 55mm inside IIRC. If you need it, the OEM part number is 3B7601171XRW and they cost about £7.50 each.

Easiest way is to tap a hole with a small screwdriver then prise them out.....simples.
