Title: Rcd510 aux problem
Post by: ukshaun on July 20, 2013, 09:05:10 pm
Hi
I have just fitted an rcd 510 dab and I have Changed the pin allocations on the quad locks that a guide says to do and my iPod dock in the glovebox does not work. If I select a song on my iPod and then plug it in it will play for about 5 seconds then cut out.

Does this need setting up with vag com or something?

Finally it's not this issue:-

If you have plugged something into the cd changer socket of the rear of the stereo then you press 'CD' to change between the cd player on the stereo and the aux imput (either a cd changer or and mp3 aux imput)

Are you sure you swapped the correct wires?
The my-gti guide suggested swaping two wires (iirc 2 &3) with my rns510 and arm rest ipod dock but in the end I only needed to move one wire.

iirc the black wire at pin 2 was moved to pin 3. On my car pin 3 was unused whereas in the guide there was a wire there.

My car originally came with a rcd500 and ipod dock in armrest.

Hmm cheers I will give this a try

If you could post the wiring arrangement from the sticker at the top of your old head unit and your present one then it could be of assistance.

My car had an RCD300 with an iPod adapter in the glovebox which no longer worked when I changed to an RCD510. I just thought, so what, I'll just put the same music on SD cards instead!

That doesn't help much, does it?
