Hi guys,
Got my last batch of stuff from detailing world for my red fabia, but now have a grey mk5 gti and looking for the best wax/seal for this colour.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

No use to you, but I'm interested too, just bought the grey MK5 today. Here's a free bump I guess haha

Hi,
I started doing some detailing on my car today! Only done half of it but you can instantly tell which parts have been done! My process was to wash each panel and dry with a micro fiber. Then use Auto Glym paint renovator with a polishing cloth, then buff that off after a few mins, then use Auto Glym super resin polish to buff up the paint with a separate polishing cloth. And that's it! See what you think?
P.S. How do I upload so that the pics are visible? Not just links?

Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine + HD Wax works well for me, would be interested to hear other peoples choices for this colour though.

Wax/sealant won't add that much in terms of looks. Some will give a glassy finish and others will give a wet gloss type finish.
However the main looks come from polishing and you will only get decent long lasting looks through machine polishing.
However if you use something like Autoglym Super Resin polish that is quite filler heavy then you can mask a lot of imperfections.
On my car which is Anthracite Grey I've used the following in the past
Swissvax Crystal Rock
Swissvax Shield
FK1000p
FK2685 Pink Wax
GTechniq C2, C1.5, C2v3 and C1.5v2
Megs NXT Tech Wax
Out of all of them my favourite combo is Swissvax Shield x2 coats with FK2685 x2 coats in the summer
In Winter I use FK1000p x2 Coats (which is also a very very good wheel sealant) with x2 coats of FK2685 over the top. The FK1000p is a very hard wearing sealant.
Just remember that a sealant is there to seal in the just polished appearance of the car. The wax is then a sacrificial protectant that you apply over the top to help make it last
You also need to ensure you apply it properly. Try and leave 24hrs between any layers so that you give the sealant/wax time to cure properly. Also don't apply it in direct sunlight or if the panel is really hot as it will flash cure off too quickly.

I use some generic wet look carnauba wax, makes the grey proper come out.

I continue to use super resin polish followed up by poorboys black hole glaze, i find this brings out a great shine, works great on black so no reason not on grey.
I follow this up with dodo juice purple haze pro, 2 coats a great soft wax thats easy on has both good durability but with the pro edition an extra kick of carnuba for a deeper shine

I detailed my grey mk5 the other day using auto finnese polish followed by poor boys black hole glaze and a wax
The car came up mint, I'd highly reccomend It.

Another vote for poorboys blackhole. I follow it with collinite 476 wax and end up with a really deep, durable shine

I have used autoglym SRP and the autoglym HD wax on top of similar coloured cars before with good results (decontaminated and clayed before hand of course) zymol titanium and glasur have always worked well on grey cars iv'e owned

on my R32 i find Zaino Z2 works really well, nice glossy look. Strange as we have a black honda and the z2 doesnt work so well on that...
different products for different cars i guess.
