Title: REVO Remap - Bit Worried
Post by: Rich on August 19, 2009, 01:36:00 pm
Hi,

I managed to get in touch with the bloke who previously owned my car...

He said he had a REVO remap on it (which i intend to have on) but he said he had to have it taken off because the DSG couldnt handle the power. It kept throwing up fault flashes when changing gear when booting it. :stupid:

I heard of the DSG remap...

I'm really worried here, i intend to have it remapped... but if problems like these i'm hearing, especially from the previous owner, i shan' bother.
 :sad1:

Plenty of people have remapped GTIs with DSG. Hurdy is pushing a lot of power through his. Not been a problem for him.

Its more likely that if he had a Revo with SPS+ he might have been using incorrect settings causing the CEL. Or are you sure he wasnt mistaking the "flashes" for the ESP lights?

Have a chat with Andy (wigit), he has a pirelli (not DSG) and has recently had it remaped by Revo.

They had to make some tweaks to the map due to a misfire issue that has been seen on some of the latest versions of the 2.0TFSI ECU I believe.

I am running Revo 2+ code on my DSG Edition 30 and it has no problems handling the power.

REVO are quality tuners, so I'm sure you wont have any issues  :happy2:
even if you do theres a wealth of users on here , plus the supplying dealer should help you out. its all good and why most of us go to a reputable tuner
Stage 1 will be fine  :happy2:

There has been an issue with the 08 onwards S3's and misfires, I had it myself, cured by fitting Milltek TBE, good an excuse as any :happy2:

DSG has NO trouble at all..

I have launched mine more than 100 times I would say and driven it hard with Stage 2+ and all the bolt ons with zero problems, not even a flutter..

Revo haven't officially released a DSG remap as yet.

The ones on the market so far do stuff like lift the rev limit / remove the auto change up and remove the kick down in manual mode, also raise the torque limit to around 500nm.

It shouldn't be an issue Rich. You've been behind mine and seen what it can do. I'm Revo stage 2+ as well and like Jonnyc have booted it many times down the Pod and on the road without issue. The DSG remap really does help and is a no brainer as it makes the car even better.

I'm also going to the next step...stage 3  GIAC RSR conversion with over 400bhp and 380+lbft, so that should calm your issues down Rich

My DSG remap was done by Statllers in Sheffield. It is the GIAC DSG flash and works with any ECU software. If you are going for REVO then I'd suggest you stick with them when their DSG flash comes out soon. I don't think the flashes will be very different IMHO, but it is always good to have a "matching pair" :happy2:

Rich we had our car mapped at Revo HQ and with the  Ed30 map it had a misfire at 6,500rpm, as it was consitent i lent Revo the car for 4 days so they could log it and they tweaked the map, its working fine now  :happy2:

This trait also seams to disappear after the first service so when its been in for its we are going to try the original map again

As they speak to Carl or Kev as if you want it done by a local dealer they can make sure the right files are used

Hi Wigit,

Yes, been emailing Kev Hall... going to HQ direct

I'll mention you to Kev.

He said he'll offer 30day trial as they always do,

So as far as your aware, the map is OK to use ? These problems of misfires have been solved ??

Rich i was with Kev and Carl today and saying how good the Pirelli now was, whislt its packing more ponies its a lot smoother to drive

they both did the flashing and road testing on the Pirelli so told me about the issue, since they borrowed it there are no misfires issues :happy2:

I've had no problems with my remap from REVO for 2 months now...

I think Carl at REVO HQ had to mess around with it at first, but its silky smooth and perfect now :happy2:

I know the Pirelli map is different to the ED30 remap... so im guessing this what it might be...

If i was you, id get it remap at REVO HQ with Carl
