So i hear great things about the PSS, they dont come in the exact specification for the GTI but from reading. 88 is fine anyway.
From Michs site, http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/michelin-pilot-super-sport#tab-tyres-sizes - Closest they do is:
225 40 R 18 88 Y * F B 71dB
No 235 available in 40 R18 so that's out.
So from what i have read the tyre is fine to run on a GTI (ed30) ?

Should be 91XL really.... Not sure howmuchbdifference it makes.

Hi,
225/40/18 92y will be available in October if you can hang on !

As with any modification you would need to tell your insurance company.

I have the 88Y on, great tyre and no issues.
-
88y is a track tyre though isn't it?
The PSS is a summer but all reports show great all round

I don't think so.. isn't 88 the load index so they are just not able to carry as much load/weight as the 92 spec tyre?
Edit: Here's a thread on the subject of 88 vs 92 http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=9979.0
