Hi,
I recently removed my speedo to inspect it as my trip button is not working. Had a play with it but still no joy.
Now I have an AIR BAG FAULT showing on dash?? Should I have had the battery discounted when taking out speedo?
HOW TO I GET RID OF THIS AIRBAG FAULT CODE?
Also the speedo needle has now dropped to below zero. I have reajusted it back to where it should be but as soon as you plug the speedo back into dash it just dropped again. (Speedo will still work buy is about 20mph out)
Any info on how I can fix this would be great!
Many thanks..

Get someone with VCDS to scan it and clear it. :happy2:
The needle??
-
You need to alter the needle by moving it counter clockwise.
VCDS will remove the airbag fault.
-
As above, move the needle anti clockwise.
Really you need VCDS to check it is spot in with the needle function test, it should go from minimum to maximum then stick at 62mph. If so, it is back in the right place

Thanks MATE! That fixed it :happy2:

Do you know if the digital mileage part of the speedo can be pulled from circuit and put into a new speedo?
Or how to fix a faulty TRIP button?
-
If you're referring to the screen, I wouldn't advise attempting it. New clocks are relatively inexpensive so trying to change the LCD screen wouldn't be worth it. Wiper stalks are fairly cheap to replace also if your trip button is broken, I have a spare one in fact.

The trip on the wiper stalks work fine. Its just the main trip button on speedo thats faulty. Meaning I cant reset the mileage on dash and cant reset the service reminder.
Do you have a spare trip button or the whole speedo?

Have you removed your clocks and taken the front casing off to see if it's just the plastic buttons that are broken? What year is your car? Do you have midline or highline?
