I have experienced this before on an old car but currently looking for insurance for SWMBO's car and when the reg number is put in, either over the phone or on comparison site it lists a different model.
Hers is a standard Golf 1.4 S (CGGA) engine but when giving the reg it think its a 1.4 TSi (CAXA).
I believe these details come from the DVLA. As you can imagine its a bit difficult to get accurate quotes. Is this something that can be changed through DVLA and has anyone else experienced this?

I had the same problem, I gave the reg of a Golf R I was looking at to my insurance company, and the girl asked me "is that the VW Golf GTI Pirelli Edition?"
would be pretty difficult seeing as it's an 11 plate!
She did then say though that it happens quite often and they just change the details based on the customers' description....
