Title: I've had the stage 1 guys....what's next in line?
Post by: 18Edition30 on August 03, 2013, 09:52:43 pm
Had the stage 1 map on the car for a little while me and love it!!

Now interested in the next mods to go to the next stage not yet...but in the future!!

Current mods are....pre cat delete, milltek cat back, VWRacing intake and stage 1 map, Eibach springs and VWRacing lower engine mount.

I'm thinking best to finish exhaust with downpipe and sports cat 100 cell or 200 cell first then maybe intercooler?

Or other way around?

Or both then stage 2 map, which is free apparently? Great if so!

What bhp and torque would this bring guys??

I spose clutch upgrade would be needed after that though!

Cheers fellas, I've got the bug from this place!!

 :happy2:

Yeah was worried about the extra weight of R32 ones so might just be disc and pad upgrade I think.

I go with...

Anti lift kit and poly bush front wishbone
Rear Anti Roll Bar

As for brakes, the NQSBBK is a lot lighter than the OEM set up and a lot better too.

Then a decent downpipe with 200 cell Cat Back and a stage 2 map.

Yes was looking into rear roll bar. Think anti lift kit may be a bit much for what I'm using the car for...I don't track it. May be wrong though.

Will look out for a milltek downpipe to finish the system and get stage 2 map. Still no intercooler needed then?.

What power does APR stage 2 get you to roughly?

Cheers guys!

Yeah I'm sure there great...but don't they slow you down?? They weigh a ton!

I do chuckle when people worry about the weight of R32 brakes, it isn't like the mk5 is the lightest car to begin with.

NQSBBK stands for "Not Quite So Big Brake Kit". Have a read of this, not all of it, just the first few pages will do.....

APR Stage 2 means a new APR high flow RSC exhaust, APR fuel pump, APR / VWR intake, stage 2+ 3.1 map.
Should see 360+ dependant on car and dyno lottery.

I'm doing suspension KW clubsports then brakes before going Stage 2/3.

Car is running a Stage 1 map by Morego / BBR/ Gti Engineering.....very nice smooth map and would really recommend them too.

I've got the VWRacing intake, just need the milltek downpipe and I'm there apart from fuel pump...is that really needed for stage 2? Or could I just have exhaust done then the stage 2 map?

What power would it make without the pump?

Also no intercooler needed?

I have Eibach springs and lower subframe mount so just want ARB for rear.

To be honest mate, slowing you down is the aim of any brake system ........

They do weigh A LOT, in the region of 22KG each side, adding a massive amount of unsprung weight.  I ran them for a bit.

Can't understand why the 4 pot Cupra R 1.8T brakes weren't used or developed upon in the later R32/S3/Cupra.... cost?

There's no doubting they are better than the standard GTI setup, but that weight and single piston... meh.

Yes a little off putting but I'm sure the braking power is of more benefit.

Downpipe and stage 2 it s then. I'm sure APR offer free stage upgrades?

Also no intercooler needed?

Est power output without upgrade pump?

Interested in this too, as i may fit decat downpipe and get APR to upgrade to stage 2.

Im sure they quote 270bhp.

Then stage 2+ is 280bhp? Cant remember the hardware difference though..

Yeh mate im GTI, going for stage 2 remap today.

As far as i know stage 2 is with standard fuel pump, stage 2+ is with high pressure pump.

You do get free upgrades between map stages with APR- pretty good id say!!

As for intercooler, Ed30s can make 350bhp without upgrading..

I think if you go stage 2+, so with a HPFP and 3" downpipe- you will see around 340bhp. Its mental what power they can achieve and so easily!

Your clutch will cope, for a while, but make that the next thing to save for id say!

Im speaking from my mates experience with his ED30, who is on here and running stage 2+ and the thing is an absolute weapon!

That's sounds great if its right.

Would just rather finish the exhaust with the downpipe then get stage 2 map. Hoping for around 315 - 320!

Still havent found out what I'm running at the moment....stage 1 map with VWRacing intake...have to get on the dyno!

Cheers Gaz!

For Stage2 tune you NEED - a 3" downpipe with either 200cel,100cel or De-Cat

You don't need a Cat-Back system, HPFP can be added to achieve Stage2+, You can also add a HPFP to Stage1 to achieve Stage1+ (i ran 1+ for a while)

I've already got the miltek cat back, so now looking for a downpipe to complete the system.

What's the difference between 100 and 200 cell? Are the both legal?

And I would love to decat it but aren't they illegal as well?

Cheers

Will

the difference between 100cel and 200cel is 100cel's the lower the number the more free flowing. OEM cat is about 800cel i think

200cel is legal, 100cel is legal but some wont pass emissions test (mine failed) depending on the quality of the cat, De-Cat is illegal.

APR Downpipe is 200cel i think
