Title: realistic power from gti?
Post by: ginge 0116 on August 04, 2013, 01:09:07 pm
Hey people, right quick question which im sure alot will be able to help me with. What power could I get from my gti with out doing internals? Was talking to some chap the other day and he said they are only good for 280bhp I havnt got any idea and would love to know the actual figures. Cheers all. Sam

Realistically I'd agree with that. There are one or two who have touched 300bhp with a K03 onboard, but they are the exceptions rather than the rule.

There are plenty of stage 3 K04 conversions out there and a few without internals, however I'd personally recommend forged pistons and rods as the GTI ones are known to fail under a K04 that is pushed near the limit. Like with everything you don't have to max the K04 and a mild map with a K04 with stock internals pushing 300-320bhp would be fine. :happy2:
