Title: Cyclists!! Bike rack's for your car
Post by: griff439 on August 05, 2013, 03:05:00 pm
Guys,

Can you recommend any good bike racks? Don't particularly like the idea of scratching my boot to bits!

Thanks,
Griff

Use proper VW roof bars along with some Thule 591 bike carriers  :happy2:

The vw roof bars fit very well, I had a set on my old mk4 R32 and caused no problems. Will be buying another set when I get around to it for the ed30. Thule bars are good too. Both are lockable

I've got a set of Thule bars in my garage, still yet to actually use them in anger but I will be doing in the next week or so when we head off on holiday (with a roof box attached rather than cycle racks). The Mk5 has locating pins for the bars under the front door gutters - covered by a rubber gromet.

I have trial fitted them but not loaded them up, the car specific feet and hooks ensure they lock in nice and tight. Mine were £60 off everybodies favourite auction site. Still holding out for some cheap 591 racks but they fetch £50 each second hand.
