I have made myself a blanking plate for my PCV valve, i made a catch tank as well with no breather filter just as a place to collect the vapour. Basically I have copied the existing delete kits but when I put the blanking plate on tonight I blocked off the two pipes that would normally go to the catch tank while I wait to get silicone hose and the car just starting burning quite a fair amount of oil.
what am I missing here it seems a relatively simple breather system and I've seen people blank off the rocker cover with no catch tank is there another problem here? When it was running I quickly removed the dipstick to see if it caused issues and it seemed to be under pressure (it made a release of pressure noise)
Also if the system is meant to be pressurised then why do some people run filters on catch cans? I've always had the impression excess crankcase pressure is bad?
Here is the blanking plate am I missing anything obvious?
Hope this makes sense
Thanks

Temporarily put a connecting hose between the two ports for the catch can and you'll be good to go.

My delete kit is routered at back so basically ull need to put a peace of pipe between both smaller pipes that would connect the catch can will connect to I think till you get it have u blocked the intake manifold aswell ?
-
Yea I blanked the manifold and put a cap over each of the small pipes, so they were blocked off but not linked together, when I started the car it just started smoking like oil leaking past the turbo seals
Thanks

Basically I think my problem is the vapours are supposed to travel like this photo.
I just blanked the pipes off individually assuming they fed from the same place, is there a possibility I've blown something? It dosent smoke anymore and I've put my pcv back on it only ran for 30 seconds I just didn't think

I think you'll be fine.
The same issue affects those in very cold climates with catch cans when its contents freeze causing the same sort of blockage you temporarily introduced.

The left port vents all the way through the rocker cover to the turbo inlet. Right port is basically the 'out'. Blocking that will indeed cause pressure build up.

Thanks for the replies just tried to get a quick fix to get home after standing out in the rain for half an hour!
I'll put the proper lines to the catch can tomorrow
Thankyou
