Title: Volkswagen Font/typeface help please

Folks
Does anybody know which typeface is use for the FSI TURBO lettering on the GTI's engine cover?
My wife, a graphic designer and typography nerd, reckons it's some kind of Helvetica Extended Bold but having downloaded one and tried to put a logo together, it doesn't look quite right.

I want to get a vinyl cut for the engine cover (TT-S type) which has now been smoothed and painted. Any help appreciated.

I think it's based on Futura, but tweaked a bit.

VW use Futura for a lot of their text (brochures, press, whatnot) but the engine cover text is very definitely a Helvetica Extended of some sort, possibly modded.
