Reason I ask is due to getting a service done by a Stealer and them NOT CHECKING, which could result in a very expensive bill if it had completely failed.
Car was going into limp mode after a prolonged drive and i'm quite sure the Cam had a part to play in it.

It's not seen as a wearable / serviceable part which is why they haven't checked (unless you specifically asked them to check?)
VW USA have accepted that there is a problem and issued a warranty on it. Seems like VW UK have their fingers in their ears saying "la la la la I can't hear you. . . "

So my rant will fall on deaf ears. FFS!

IMO if the car went into limp mode and the error is still stored in the ecu then you may have a fighting chance of a good will payment towards the repair depending on your mileage and service history.
Anyone in your area able to do a vcds scan to see the fault codes (but don't clear them!) and print out the scan? This could prove handy and cogent evidence if you approach them with the fault code pointing to the issue.

I have VCDS so no issue there.
Thing is, I went up to Alex on the weekend and no fault showed when we checked on VCDS, but when we took out the Cam it was in need of being replaced.
Just felt to have a rant at VW as a failed Cam Follower IMO is a very serious issue that VW UK should actually be looking at more seriously.
P.S - car is fine now and hasn't gone into Limp even after some playful driving. :happy2:

Was the cam follower intact and was the cam scoured?
I don't think VW will do any investigation if there isn't a fault code stored.

The cam is a B cam but does have some slight scoring which is why the follower has worn the way it has. Ideally MVB12 could do with a new cam.
