Hi all
My MKv Golf GT Sport 170 has developed an oil leak around the front n/s of the engine, It looks as though it is coming from around the top of the housing where the screw top is, Is this a common thing? as i seem to be topping up with oil every other day and at 50 quid a tub its not funny no more.
I have done an oil change and changed the filter and seal, but still comes pissing out, would it be worth using a genuine filter and seal? and buying a new screw top from the dealers??
The car has done 50k and has had a stage 1 tune and been de dpf'd giving me 206bhp and 325 lb of torque.

How much oil is it losing a week/ month

When you changed the filter and seal are you sure that the old seal came out? Part of it left stuck in maybe?
Is the housing marked or damaged where the seal fits?
Tightened to correct torque? Too much can be as bad as too little if the seal is distorted.

Losing at least a litre a week, if not more.
cap seems ok and was torqued up correctly, only started happening after last couple of oil changes, may just buy from vw as much as it hurts me, to save the hassle

VW OEM may be more expensive, but does tend to be made to good standard!

Check that you have replaced the dipstick properly I bet it's that it needs to be clipped in

No its deff coming from the oil filter top, when the car is running i can see it coming out, Time to visit the stealers i think

can do, ill take some later

Sorted the oil leak. Went for an original vw oil filter and seal. Ditched the aftermarket Unipart filter and the leak has stopped.
