Title: NEED NEW DIVERTER VALVE - Advise please!

Hi,
I rencently just removed my diverter valve to inspect it as the engine feels it down on boost, I was right, theres a big tear in the Diapham.
I am running a B or C Rev valve at the mo i think.
Can any one reccomend which revision is best to have as I have heard the REV G is not that good as it leaks boost just by the design.
Where can I get hold of them and what sort of cost are they?

Rev D leaks by design, apparently. Rev G is the one to buy. Get it from a dealer or on ebay. Around £45.

Isnt it worth getting a Forge one? Not sure what they cost though..

Not worth it. More a Pain then they are worth

Go Fast bits, have just released a new Diverter Valve design

There is someone that is about to replace theirs with one. I'm actually seriously looking at replacing mine. If I can still find my old Diverter Valve that is.

Replaced mine , heres the part number for the piston type designed one 06H 145 710D cost around £50 from VW

It had a boost leak when we uploaded the revo stage 1 software due to the DV being knackered.....absolutely flys now :jumpmove:

I have a Rev D for sale, was on for a few K, then decided to try a Rev G, didn't make any more or less pwr/trq £30 delivered if your interested :happy2:

I too have a nearly new Rev D. Only 2-3 months old. I think I might try one of these GFB units. Never know, a few more PSI boost or consistent boost would surely make for a nicer driving car. TFSI_Mike apparently installed one of the GFB units seems to think it may have made a difference.

Why do so many people hate the Forge DV? I have had mine in for nearly 2 years and never had any problems with it.
I replaced my rev G VW diverter with the Forge because it wouldn't hold boost. It is still in perfect condition.

A note to anyone who has had boost problems but discounted the DV due to recently installing a Rev 'G'...

It seems that the 'G' version isn't as reliable either.

I installed a Rev 'G' DV about three months back. Gradually I noticed the cat wasn't performing with the same urgency over time. Took it out and inspected it but it did not have any rips. Re-installed my old Rev 'D' and the car is back to full power! Strange...

i can vouch for that as the diverter valve in mine committed suicide last week

I'll take my changces with the REV G.  Can't be much worse that the broken one I got now and its 3 times cheaper than the after market one. Only planning on owning the car 3 years so im sure it will last that long.

Im only running stage 1 so not a lot of power compared to others on here. I had a boost problem with mine a few months back. I had a Rev D installed which was ripped in several places along the diaphragm. Since switching it for a Rev G car feels much better. Looking forward to the review of you new DV.

I'll explain to both,

Firstly, why convert an electronic Diverter valve back to Vacuum operated valve?
Being made of metal, the piston is heavier by design than plastic unit's being produced by VW.
Which means on DSG operated cars, will always release boost slower than plastic unit.

Again being metal, should be pulled apart every 6-12 months to be cleaned ad re-oiled. Otherwise they can get stuck open or close.
Time frame for service is seasonal conditions.

I tried and test the Forge DV (007 and DV replacement) on a MK4 I use to own. Always provided in consistent boost.

Now moving onto the MK5 platform. Again, installed one to trial. My boost was so all over the show that I removed it within only 2 weeks of fitting.
Then proceeded to struggle selling it for around 9 months. Even at half the cost of a new unit.

The factory Unit hold high boost fine, providing it's a Rev D or Rev G. If you have a GTI golf with K03. I would recommend Rev D, due to heat on the turbo.
If you own an ED30,ED35,Golf R or Audi S3. I will recommend the newer revision G.

As for my earlier information regarding the GFB unit. They already had to recall their full first run of these. They have also had to build another upgrade on their design specifically for the Golf R/S3/ED30/ED35 owners. As the Piston gets stuck when trying to seal.

So to date, personally? OEM will be the way forward for me on our cars.

reading a post on audi sport though someone said the d is the newest revison and the best?

06F 145 710 C and 06F 145 710 G were diaphragm type DV's.

06H 145 710 D is the later type piston type DV.

reading that, would the 'd' not be the best for all cars?

im interested as i have a k1 that i would like to change one on

D can leak jake. G is the best one to use.
