Do like a bit of moody lighting! :happy2:

Wander what this will be like. Just read a review on the new S3 with the same engine vs the M135i and the new A Class AMG and they reckon its a really laggy turbo setup on the S3 compared to the other two cars!!

Looking forward to seeing this. Hope VW make it look nice and aggressive, but their pricing and discount needs some serious looking into.

Not aggressive enough. :sad1:
Glad i didnt wait and got the M135i now.
-
according to the price in Euros it probably will be 35k without options added
-
If them links are of the final version then I'm really disappointed with the front mostly. But if you look at the teaser pic to the images in the links the teaser looks like it has a fog light in the bumper where as the other pics don't.

The fog lights are LED so probably tinted lenses on the R.
The mk7 GTI fogs aren't as visible as the mk6 ones and are LED too.

Isn't the new Leon Cupra R supposed to be coming with the same lump and optional Haldex?
Pretty car, interior sorted, now comes in 3 doors... hard to ignore eh.
-
And ill bet it will be considerably cheaper than the Golf R and S3
-
It will be gay :happy2: unless they stop the Audi vw clash of models and cost crap they have done for the past 10 years :signLOL:
-
BORING! The engine just isn't special enough to justify 35k +(neither is anything else to be honest..)
-
just saw the photos and not a fan at all. the Mk6 Golf R was a great looking thing imho, as was the Mk5 R32. the Mk7 just seems a little flat faced. generally i find it hard to decide whether the GTI or the R of any generation looks better, but in this case hands down it's the GTI
-
I think it looks stunning. I'll have one in Tornado red if I win the lottery. I guarantee the exhaust note will be a real crackler.

It won't tho because its a 4 cyl..... . :(

VW should have stuck the 5 banger in with some flared arches, nicer wheels. Dont know what they were thinking to be honest. The Mk6 R is fantastic looking.

They were thinking a mass market car, with lower running costs, emmisions, and insurance costs, and buying costs for more sales. :P

What a huge disappointment. It is in no way aggressive or sporty like an 'R' should be. In fact from the front I'd mistake it for a bog standard 1.4 :surprised:
-
A Wolf in sheeps clothing.
-
I love it? In fact I think most of the Mk7 range looks great , bar the absolute base cars. (pretty much the same as any car to me , the base spec ones suck) I will never be able to afford £35,000 for a car though so I will be sticking to a Mk6 R 3 door when the time comes to change.
-
I like it , if i could justify the money id order 1 tomorrow
-
Not a fan, it doesn't look as good as the GTi, looks more like a base model, I've been running about in a mk7 diesel for the last few weeks and I think they flow well when driving but I don't rate the car the interior does nothing for and I think the exterior is blah, faceless, for me the two previous generations were better.
-
Very disappointed, they could have made the front end a bit more aggressive and still made it subtle and understated like the R is supposed to be, also looks like it's on stilts.
Interior and seats as per the Gti are bland and not as good as the Mk5/6 but thumbs up for the power output though. Always thought the Mk5 gti was better looking than the R32, changed my mind for the Mk6 and the R but afraid I've swung back and now and favour the gti again for this Mk....hopefullly there'l be a tasty "edition" model for the Gti soon.

I agree with both the above!!
For,VW it is an opportunity missed. :sad1:
Having said that I bet it will still handle well. :happy2:
-
Perhaps there's a Golf RR in the pipeline (doubts)
-
Only 50 grand to you, sir!
-
£35k??? Really??? Even when the new S3 is £30k? Can't see that happening to be honest..
It does put VW in a bit of a predicament though with the fact they have priced the Mk7 GTI where they have. Do they make the Golf £30k (in line with the S3) and risk affecting sales of the GTI. Or do they price the .:R at well over £30k and send all potential customers to their local Audi garage....?
Oh and it looks pants! :booty:
-
2.5tfsi will remain for Audi only. Want a cheap way in, wait for the mk3 TT-S, that's rumoured to get a 320ps I5
-
This all means there will never be some sort of Golf RS with a 5cyl then, certainly not for the foreseeable future?
-
I'd rather have the 3.0 V6T they showed at Wörthersee.
-
I do seem to remember Audi saying they weren't going to let anyone else use it.
I'm sure it'll sell well to the people who convince themselves they need it more than a GTI, but I reckon the press will still favour the 2WD version. The S3 has hardly had glowing reviews.

Next Gen Audi Rs5 exclusive apparently at 480-500hp, basically a 4.0 v8 copy with two cylinders chopped off.
I can't see this car selling well at that price point. Remember that VW drastically reduced the price of the Mk6 Golf R cabrio from 38k by a huge margin as it wasn't selling.
-
Well 8.14 at the ring is very impressive ! Makes it the second fastest Hot hatch I think.

Nice
