This must be the performance hatch bargain of the decade, surely. A sweet chassis with fine handling breathed over by Mountune to give Mk7 GTi beating performance for £17.5K!!!
212bhp, 236lb/ft, 0-60 in 6.4secs? The standard ST is described as 'Outstanding' by Matt Saunders of Autocar, so this could be a great. I'd love to drive one.

The stock ST got rave reviews so this should be a hoot
Mountune are very respectable tuners and give a very OEM feel to their upgrades :happy2:
Are you considering it Ian? :innocent:
-
I hope they've sorted out the driving position :scared:
-
Ive driven the Fiesta ST. Its absolutely phenomenal to drive. great looking car as well. Engine felt flat but thats after geting out of a stage 2 1.4TSI with 220Hp so not a surprise tbh.

No, I've my heart set on an Ed30 next.

As someone has said already all the reviews on the fiesta st have said what a great hot hatch it is, hopefully il get a drive of this one day. Got to say I'm not a fan at all of this wide fish mouth of a bumper ford are putting on the cars now. One more thing that isn't really anything to do with the post but for me this doesn't look any more sporty than a gti but the golf seems to get bashed for not looking crazy where as this doesn't.

Did you feel your sexuality changing as you changed cars?

I had a new shape Focus hire car a while back, just a poxy eco version on skinny tyres, but by God did it handle amazingly.
The point being, they're putting a massive amount of effort into making cars fun. For that money, and let's face it, you'll either get a huge chunk off or pick up a nearly new for buttons... it's a great smile inducing weapon.
-
I saw a Fiesta ST today... in a deep purple colour, and it did look pretty tasty. ( I even think that the new mundano looks good.... whats happening to me?)
-
Fords have always been decent in the handling department... The Mk1 focus was great fun, just lacked power but still quicker than the 2.0 Mk4 GTI which really should never have had the badge. Was the first car I had with ESP. Wouldn't mind a Mk1 RS as a toy.

Will be worth 7k in 3 years time

So what?
Buy one, enjoy it and lose £10.5k in depreciation...buy a mk7 gti, enjoy it and lose £15k over the same period...yes the Golf will be 'worth' more than the fiesta but you've still lost an extra 5 grand...
Anyhow, fantastic little car and if I could justify another car I'd be down to Ford like a shot to buy one for Mrs Beddie :happy2:

Exactly. Cheapest Titty Arse on AT is around 3 years old and £23K, which I reckon is a whole lot more than a new Fiesta ST in depreciation costs...

Titty arse?

TT RS...

Or buy a ttrs for 50k then lose 20k over 3 years..... http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/audi/tt/rs-2009/buying-selling/ (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/audi/tt/rs-2009/buying-selling/)
-
Who would buy a TTRS new anyway.... that would be silly!
-
You'd walk out of a Ford dealer with a basic one of those for sub-15k with ease. Which is why the depreciation always looks bad compared to list. In reality, they perform quite well considering.
ST2 with Recaros and 'Nav still lists at less than £19k with the Mountune pack. If you can't get at least 15% off that, you're a clown.
Obviously they're conservatively tuned to retain the warranty. Won't be long before others are extracting more.
-
The more you spend the more you lose, generally.
These would probably run rings around a standard Mk5/Mk6 GTI
-
TT RS...
:signLOL: thought it was an auto correct, haha.

Yeah all new cars lose massively, the more expensive the car, the more they lose. However in percentage terms of depreciation the TTRS loses less of its value than this supermini will. Like the fiesta st though, most people paid 42-44k for a half decent spec TTRS new. 50k+ on a TT and you need your head testing
But yeah, I've never advocated buying new, the TTRS was an exception as a 5 cylinder was a boyhood dream. 911 GT3 next, they hold their value very well, and I think some gen GT3's will go up in value long term.

You missed the point, 2nd hand bargain, just like the m3, c63, rs5 etc
Defensive people :signLOL:

I got your point, Poverty, largely as 7-8k is what I've spent on my last 2 Mk5 GTi's!! I always reckon that this kind of budget allows a great balance between getting a fantastic driver's car whilst beating depreciation in true Bangernomics fashion!
£7k for one of these in 3 years will be a fantastic purchase, and it'll still be nearly new!!
-
Yep I agree fully, at 3 years old it will still look fresh, shouldn't be too hard to find a low-ish mileage one and enjoy a real little cracker. Then another 2-3 years down the line sell it on for 5k. Cheap motoring and a smart way to get into drivers cars for minimum outlay and gives you the option to continuously try new cars. I have a friend who does this, has a different "legend" every 4-5 months.
If I was in the market for this type of car currently, I'd find a low mileage previous gen Clio RS, then try this perhaps 3 years from now.
-
Lol buy it now why wait and good for the cash and nothing beats a new car I had a Clio sport from new and had 3 boxes under warranty, so wouldn't like to have bought it 3 years old someone else did on a forum that I was on after I traded it in and was bombarded with knew faults and another box, sold it after less than a years ownership. Ps was my 4th Renault and will never go back but would have had the fiesta mountune new if I never had the ed30 which is a keeper :drinking:

It's a great way to do it. I know someone who operates in a similar way but on 5K!! He sells them privately so gets more or less what he paid for them 4-6 months later. He went from a 330ci clubsport to a clio 197 to a Focus ST in 14 months and lost 200 quid overall!

That's mental, I love the idea of that. Get to try out a lot of metal for minimal outlay.
