Title: Servicing
Post by: andykent on August 27, 2013, 11:32:30 am
Hey Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to find out what service plan the car you own is on?  My oil light came on this morning and i haven't got any of the information to hand as to which plan it's on.  I know i need either 5w30 or 10w40 depending on which plan it's on.  Is there anyway to find out?  I was planning on buying the oil on the way home from work tonight as i'll be driving it before i can get home to check the service book.  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Andy

You need VW 504 507 specific oil. A lot of us use Castrol Edge 5W30 as it's good and readily available.

As for service plan, check the service history. It will show if it's had an oil change every year/10k, which is the time & distance regime, or not which is the longlife regime.

Most people would recommend you go with t&d for a gti.
