Following on from my n00b battery drain question, I have a second and probably equally n00b query.
My car has the standard ?RCD300? headunit currently, and has an ipod dock in the arm rest. Does this mean that it has the MDI gimmick which should allow full control of the ipod from the head unit.
I have only tried it with an iphone4 and found it pretty useless tbh, but don't think the iphone is particularly well supported anyway, plus wrong connector now I have upgraded to a 5.
Just working out likely costs of upgrading to an RNS-510, which is meant to have full ipod control on screen I think - intention will be to chuck an old ipod in there permanently rather than use the phone - will save me a few quid if I already have the right connector/MDI thing.
Any help more than appreciated!! Cheers :happy2:

The ipod dock is a basic interface that fools the head unit into thinking it's a 6 cd changer so you'll only see 6 playlists on the head unit screen when the ipod is connected.

So I will need the full MDI unit in addition to the rns-510 to get full control then?
