Hi,
Hope someone can give me a bit of advice on this.
I have a Golf MK5 2004 2.0 TDi.
I noticed today that my driver's side wing mirror was shaking around at high speed. When I stopped to have a look I found that the mirror is actually becoming unstuck from the rear panel behind. Any advice on how to re-secure this and what to use to do it would be great.
Thanks for any help.

In the past I have used a hot glue gun but silicon sealant or strong glue will do the trick.

I bought a new mirror glass from the dealers it was £45   you could also try double sided sticky tape.

Tried double sided tape - came loose again as soon as it got hot. Tried industrial strength super glue - held for a bit then fell off altogether!
Bought a new one at local dealer and they fitted it for me, foc. I think it was under £40.
Apparently silicone may hold but you loose the heating effect in cold weather.

Glue, silicon, etc will all have an effect o the heating element. Ultimately you'll lose your glass part on the motorway one day (never happened to me, twice).
Best advice is to keep your eyes peeled on eBay. I got a genuine drivers side mirror for £11 last year. Then a few weeks later I got a non OEM passenger side mirror for £9. That's for the full mirror glass, heated backing and the two small wires. There are some high quality pattern parts on eBay, I'll try and find the link to the ones I bought. :happy2:
