Title: Edition_slims......edition 30 ;)
Post by: Edition_slim on August 29, 2013, 03:18:39 pm
Guess I've been lurking far too long on the forum without a readers ride so here goes!

Quick into, I'm Slim (nickname, not a statement!)
Recently sold my 2003 Revo stage 2 LCR for something more economical in the form of an Ibiza Cupra TDi. That was on the request of the wife, who 6 weeks later left me.
Always one to make the best of a bad situation I decided this was the time to get a forced induction petrol again and feel the octane flowing through my bloodstream once more.
Budget was a little limited but managed to find this Edition 30 at a price I could afford

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fslimg60%2Fedition_30%2F6dcf0a5d14695e556db9d3c6d053e38a_zpsc490353b.jpg&hash=47ecd46ab8c57e852dc2c49d068c5813e650a708)

Nicely spec'd, including a bluefin remap to around 285bhp and RNS510 upgrade, plus heated seats etc.

Very soon the engine bay looked like this

Future plans include a milltek cat back non res system, just waiting for that to be delivered, and I have a H&R cup kit sat here waiting for time to fit, only a 20mm drop, just enough to get rid of the arch gap and some 10mm spacers on the rear.
Also need to figure out how to make the RNS510 Bluetooth to connect my iphone for both music and calls.

I've ordered an Xcarlink Bluetooth module, not sure if it will work or not. Failing that ill take it to an audio specialist.

Cars going in Friday for a full detail with some light correction work. By then I should hopefully have gotten around to fitting the Miltek exhaust and H&R cup kit too and the spacers.  :happy2

Great ED30 you have there - looks very sharp and cared for.

Nice mods list - have just added VWR springs & Milltek to mine. Made a great car even better. Which Milltek did you go for - Res / Non-res?

It's the miltek res system with 2 silencers. Only cat back for now, next year when I'm back from afghan ill treat myself to a down pipe and sports cat with a Revo stage 2 map.

Can't wait to get the H&R kit on, and then I just need some anti roll bars to sharpen the handling.

Gave the car another layer of wax today in preparation for winter and the joys that brings...
Plus my mate got his Das6 out to remove a few light scratches.

Only other updates are wind deflectors fitted and carbon wing mirror covers on  :happy2:

Are you local?
Not sure about going lower, I've got an H&R cup kit on with a 20mm drop, it's still practical at  this height! Any lower and I won't get on the ramp, or over some of the speed humps round here.
That's why I'm thinking 19s, might close up the arch gap a little more.....

They've installed some monster sped humps now at the main gate, so any lower and I'll be losing paint from the splitter I think. The H&R kit is spot on for me, it's firm enough to enjoy the roads around here but soft enough so as not to damage my old back ;)

Car is looking great - I need the time to give mine a good pre-winter spruce up, but without a good indoor space it's difficult!

Which spacers did you fit? Still wondering about these for mine. I think the front as standard is ok, but the back is a bit skinny. Did you fit new, longer bolts also?

Engine cover was pretty much my first mod, I'm going to get the red coil packs from awesome to dress up the rear of the engine a little.

Car is looking great - I need the time to give mine a good pre-winter spruce up, but without a good indoor space it's difficult!

I know what you mean, I'm lucky to have use of a large undercover space for car cleaning purposes!

I have 10mm Forge spacers on the rear and also fitted longer bolts. In the future I might get some 15mm and then out the 10s on the front, but I'm happy with how it sits, it's still practical!
