Title: Rear wash jet moves, is it supposed to?
Post by: Jasons4s on August 30, 2013, 10:45:59 am
Hi All,

Had my ED30 for a couple of months now and I have noticed the rear wash jet moves as the wiper wipes, is it supposed to do that?

I only ask because as the wiper goes past vertical its squirting off the window and onto the metal.

Thanks and sorry for the stupid question!!  :happy2:

Fixed position on my regular GTI. Maybe a loose nut on the wiper arm? Or the drivers seat

It's meant to be fixed. It categorically should not move with the wiper.

Thanks for all your answers, guys.

I was thinking it was supposed to be fixed as the cover has a slot for the water jet to pass through and not a hole, which would be all was required if it moved.

Tortaruga, thanks for the definitive answer!

I took the inside covers off and operated the jet and water streamed out of the spindle (I'll upload a picture when I have learnt how!) so that's not good!!

I guess the whole wiper motor\ washer jet is a single unit, so wnay suggestions where I can get one at a good price!!

Thanks!!!

Jason.

Seems the loose nut in the drivers seat only occurs when I drive the car, no-one else notices it, weird!!!

Leaks from the centre of the spindle form the two points arrowed.

Well I took it apart today and the brass pipe that goes up the entre of the spindle is broken, so the result is the nozzle turns with the wiper arm and the back pressure causes the leak out of the bottom of the spindle as per the picture.
Damn!!!
So I need a whole ne wiper motor unit "1K6 955 711 C"

Seen one on here (http://www.vwgenuineparts.co.uk/parts/vw_golf_plus_wipers.shtml) for £120.

Any one got any ideas of anywhere else I can source one?

I'm going to get a price from the main dealers although I think that might be just for a laugh!!

Oh I also need a passenger side tailgate light cluster (ED30 version 1K6 945093 L) as mine is cracked so any suggestions there would help too!!!

Thanks all,

Jason.

Don't know about the Mk 5 but on the Mk 3 Golf that was a separate part that only cost a few pounds. Might be worth investigating at a VW parts department just to see if it's available separately.
