Title: Should I buy?
Post by: George118 on August 30, 2013, 10:58:37 am
Hi all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section...

I've been searching for a GTI for a while now and I found this one on eBay that looks good
Is this a good buy or should I hold out for a while?

Nice colour, and the owner seems pretty fastidious so that's big plus in my book.

Seems like a very good buy to me... Had all the bits done that GTI's need doing and by a vw dealer too!

Go see it and drive it!

Agree with above looks well looked after. Fairly high mileage for the age, however that is reflected in the price and with the service history that isn't an issue - (To put in perspective im prob selling in a month or two and value mine at 7-7.5k on a 55 plate with 78k on the clock, granted with a few more options, but that is definitely worth a look  :happy2:)

I would be happy to buy from that seller, the car and documentation have been cared for... just look at his prep in the boot: petrol can / tool kit? / etc. and by the hanger/map etc. in there too, it's most likely done motorway miles. An on time service history, bet it's tidy that.  You'd get it for £6k no doubt. :happy2:

18/09/12 - New Pressure control valve (PCV) £136.52

Poor guy got raped too. £136 for PCV... FFS, it's a £40 part and 10 min job.

S/he got raped for £136.52 for a new PCV. Nasty. DV and 'cruise control recode' looks like a nasty price too.

Unfortuante for the chap, but again reiterates that the car has been looked after, poor chap must have just booked it in at VW as soon as something went wrong.

Good for a potential buyer, not so good for him.

Looks good mate although I'd want to see a few pics of the interior too before I travelled to see it.

Looks really well looked after, like some posters have said he/she overpaid for some stuff but at least you know it has been done.

Also look at the time and information that has gone into the advert. Obvious that he has tried to cover all the main points and its clearly laid out, so i would agree that it would initially appear a well looked after example.
