Not for the driver obviously, but for the passenger on a long journey.
How would you go about enabling the DVD Video on an RNS 510 while the car was moving?
-
Found this, but pricey

Any ideas of a cheaper alternative?
-
That's cheap as it is, the Kufatec one is €169, they come up on ebay once in a while but still go for £100+
-
Its quite a sophisticated system to fool so it will cost a bit. (thats not to say Kufatec make a nice profit on it) but they spent time developing it so i got my moneys worth.
Sorry to not be fruitful in the cheaper department, but ive got the Kufa one and it works perfectly....so steph tells me! ;)

It is still illegal to have video's playing on the front screen whilst on the move Deako!
Having said that, who would see it from outside the car!
I wouldn't do it even though mine has this function (kenwood) as it isn't far removed from the texting thread. :scared:
I know if I did it I wouldn't be able to resist watching, so I don't even go there! :chicken:
-
Wouldn't find it any more distracting than the radio or conversing in the car. Wouldn't ever look at it, passenger can do that.
-
its all about trusting yourself to do it.
I trust myself not to text, and also not to watch a bloody dvd whilst driving.
Its mainly for steph when we have to drive MILES AND MILES to all the southern biased meets! ;)

Yes it would, you don't watch the radio, Get her an Ipod and she can watch video's on that, or enjoy the scenery.
-
Or a DVD player with a 12v adapter. Plenty around for under the cost of a Kufatec adapter for the head unit
-
No preaching necessary. :) I wouldn't watch it. I don't use the phone, txt while driving so wouldn't watch a DVD. It's no more distracting than having the map turned on for the sat nav.

for a temp solution try this ?
•You must have SW266x on your Unit with activated Speech recognition!!
•start Engine
•insert the DVD and start the movie
•press the Speech recognition button -> 3-tone-signal
•shortly after press "TONE"-button
•the movie frezze for an half second and plays again
•done!
WARNING!
don't press any button on the RNS510 while you have VIM running,
otherwise VIM is deactivated!!
