Hi, does anyone have any genuine experience with the non-oem RNS510 headunits? I have an eBay link at the bottom.
Shelling out £450+ for a genuine one is a lot of money, so thought I'd try get some opinions first.
Thanks!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261165841648?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Someone bought one recently, like that one. Worked for a week then broke with no response from the seller. Operating system looked like it was designed on paint
-
Paint you say - I thought it was just used a Double Din filler?
Would love to know if anyone I happy with the imported gear as listed!
-
Hmm, I'm not a keen gambler so I think I'll either get an aftermarket i.e. sony or just save and get a genuine one then. I guess they're cheaper for a reason.

Get an rcd510
-
Probably a noob/dumb question, but does the RCD510 have DVD player, can you connect iphone, and ports for optional speakers/sub?
-
Get the RCD510. I have one and its a great bit of kit. If like me you don't want/need a Sat Nav then it will do everything you need.
It can't play DVD's and yes it will connect to your phone with a Bluetooth unit fitted.

I bought one from a seller in China. The satnav stopped working after a month. After a few more months the sound card f**ked up. Got it replaced under warranty but had to pay for postage to China. It was replaced with a brand new one. Used that for about a year and again the satnav stopped working. Warranty expired now but the seller did offer to sell me a GPS board that needs replacing for £40.
A mate bought an aftermarket system for his Audi A4 from a UK seller. The satnav stopped working again. Seller refused to replace the item.
If you really want one check out www.aliexpress.com where you can buy it cheaper than ebay. And you only pay for the goods once you have received it

My advice would be don't do it!!!
I bought a similar one recently to the one you've linked, I've reviewed it here

As most people are saying, if it seems too cheap for what you get then it is! :ashamed:
I'm returning mine for a refund and will go for something like a Kenwood 4023BT and then just live without the sat nav.
Incidentally I emailed the company about the one that you've linked. It doesn't say it in the advert but you can't link your phone book to the unit and it has no facility to store or save numbers either. That means yep you can receive calls ok but to actually make any you'd need to have memorised the numbers and dial them in on the keypad each time...
(Just like the old days  )

an rns-510 went for £320 on here a few weeks ago. That was a bargain!
