Hi Guys,
Just wondering what fuel people are putting in there GTI's ? Is it V-Power all the way!?
Any info/advice/horror story's???
Many Thanks
-
BP ultimate in my GT, seems to run smoother than Nitro.
-
The Power of V for me, always and every time. A few pence more than standard so no biggy.
If you live in an area where 99RON is a available (whichever brand) go for that.
:happy2:
-
Ive always put V-Power in since i brought the car. Dont no wether it makes any difference of not lol. Just makes me feel good when filling up
-
It takes the V whenever possible if not... Other premium fuels...
-
Have always used Optimax/V-Power but a massive Tesco recently opened and have been using 99 RON Momentum, can't tell the difference tbh.
-
Always run mine on V got the shell app on my phone so I always manage to find the local station :happy2:
-
Also always fill up with v-power.
-
V-Power or Tesco Momentum only
-
V-power is my 1st choice but if not available then other premium fuels.
-
been using any fuel for the first year i had my TDI, just switched to v power in may this year and can feel the difference in engine and better mpg :happy2:
-
Tesco 99 momentum as its nearer than shell
-
v-power for me, i did run it on normal fuel for a few weeks, (when i first bought the car) safe to say it doesn't run well on it! :driver:
-
V-Power, Shell garage is 1 mile from my house :innocent:
-
I run mine on 95ron as we don't have anything better this side of the pond. Car runs fine.
-
Tesco momentum since i've owned it and my mate who owned it before used vpower. No difference between the two although you will get the vpower fan boys saying it's not as good :stupid:
-
Another tesco momentum99 as its a lot closer than the nearest shell garage, put tescos 99 in since my first fuel stop and have never used anything else. Don't know if it's made a different as I don't know what the last owner used and I wasn't used to the 2.0 tfsi at the time. Maybes I need to do some tests :happy2:
-
Yep, V-Power or Tesco momentum. Both are 99RON and that's the highest around. There are various reports of head gasket failures on cars that have run long term on 95RON, but not sure if that's just early GTI's.
-
Tesco momentum for me
Noticed a big difference a while back between that and standard 95 RON so only use 99 now
-
Yeah, there's defo a difference between regular and super on these engines... esp. mapped.
-
I've found v-power to be more aggressive but Tesco 99 gives better mpg.
-
Usually Shell V Power, otherwise Tesco Momentum 99 is the next substitute. While I was in Germany I did fill it up with Aral Ultimate 102 and it felt perkier even though it costed a bomb

Both of my GTIs behaved the same as this.
-
As said v power or tesco 99. Avoid all others unless an emergency esp if your car has been mapped. Mine runs really badly on anything else, you can notice the diff straight away.
-
Always run on shell v power on mine.
Had to once use BP ultimate and actually got slightly better
MPG but didnt feel as 'sharp'. Might have just been an illusion though!
-
Always tesco 99 or v power. Marginally more than normal fuel and Defo worth it
-
Tesco 99 momentum or occasionally Shell v Power.. Runs fine on tesco but you can feel the engine runs smoother on Shell tho.
-
v power......would rather run out of petrol, take a can back to the car, that put anything else in.
-
Tesco 99 momentum for me
-
Tesco 99 as it is 1 minute away and I get shed loads of clubcard points when paying with a Tesco credit card. They should pay me for this this post.
-
Out of interest would sainsburys super unleaded which is also 99ron be suitable? As already stated I use v power but went past sainsburys and saw they had it there

That's 97 Ron. Only V Power and Momentum are 99 Ron in the UK.
