Come to check oil levels today, popped my bonnet went to the front and tried to lift my bonnet and it wouldn't open!
Anyone experienced this before?

Yeah common fault mate. Very fiddly to get it open. Remove badge then you will need a thin long screwdriver with end bent over like a hook. You will see inside where badge is where you go through to hook vable

Ok thanks mate then after I've done this what is the fix? Take it to vw or is it easy to fix yourself?

Dead easy fix. New bonnet catch mechanism at around £40-£50 (can't remember) and no more than 30 minutes to fit.

Might not be broken the cable is a two piece . Mine had popped out where the two meet so popped back together and cable tied so it couldn't happen again

Cheers mate appreciate it

No Worries mate hope you get it sorted. Defo fiddly oh when pulling cable with the screw driver gently push down on bonnet. The two cables join on drivers side by the water bottle. Check that first

I've had the same problem and when I eventually opened the bonnet the catch was practically jammed solid. I degreased it, re-lubricated it and it has been good for a year. However, it seems to be sticking again now so a new one is probably on the cards. Plastic ball within crappy - surprised how long its lasted!
Good luck.
