Hi from sunny Cumbernauld, just outside Glasgow.
Bought my GTI in May, after an increasingly unhappy love affair with an Alfa GT. So far, it's had oil starvation issues at the top end (rebuilt under warranty, thankfully!) white worm on the boot-lid and, as of Sunday, the tyre-pressure warning light has come on - without any apparent tyre pressure issue!
Despite all that, I'm loving the car, and hope to benefit from what I've been told is an excellent forum.
Oh, and the name comes from my other car ….. a Subaru Legacy Spec B!

Welcome.
Nobody ever gets it when I say "Cumbernauld" to the question "what's it called?"

Yeah, it's a bit of a stumbling block to a lot of people - even some who live here! I guess you may have to be of "a certain age" to get it!

Welcome :happy2:

Push the tyre pressure set button in (by the gearstick) and hold it in for about 10 secs... Magic SHOULD happen if your tyres are inflated good!
Edit: iPhone predictive text is crap

Still sorting out profile - no decent shots of both cars together, so need to wait til I get some!

Oh! And welcome!

Cheers Marc. First thing I did was a search, and found a couple of threads that helped. So far, so good!
And thanks for the welcome too. :happy2:

Howdy, and apologies for the delay in answering. I'm not sure tbh, as it was the dealer I bought it from who got the full report (and the bill!) When I went to the repairer, he said there had been top-end starvation which had resulted in the need for replacement of the whole top end - i.e. head, camshaft, valves/followers, plus a replacement sump filter and main oil filter.
My local guy reported these things had, in fact, all been replaced, though the MOT seems to be have been more a work of fiction than a proper test of roadworthiness! The last of the items he advised about (front brake discs down to 30% thickness) will be sorted at the next pre-MOT service, and then it'll be good as new (front wings aside).
Still loving it, still wringing its neck at times when I can ……… t'riffic car!

I always find it quite amusing when one newby welcomes another on a forum! Happens on the Legacy forum a lot as well! :happy2:
