Hello all!
I'm in the process of updating my RCD300 to an RCD310 with DAB and a VW Bluetooth Touchkit. Everything is wired and I have put the pieces where I need to put them; however I am looking for the best place to locate a switched live wire.
I've searched around and some people have commented on using an empty fuse holder in the; but people have said that the fuse boards are vastly different between models.
Is the cigarette lighter cable easy to find if I pull out the whole radio unit etc? Or is there any cable in th evicinity that I use?
If I do go the fuseboard route, could someone advise what fuse rating would be best to protect the circuit and give me hints on which ones could work as a switched live (I believe mine is a MY06 (2005) GT TDI 5 Door) - as I don't have a wire testing kit to hand.
Much appreciated.

You'd be best buying a multi meter. There's a few variations on the fuse box so its the only way to be sure.
There's a guide on how to add a circuit:

As mentioned check with a mutli meter or use the Interior fan power wire.
