well a few months after fitment I had lots of banging from the rear and that turned out to be the arb putting too much presssure on the droplinks and Vw took the arb off saying it's the arb doing it, put your stock one back on and bet the noise goes away and it did. I took the arb back to awesome who were very good and said try the neuspeed droplinks as they are saying you should use these, put these on and all knocking had gone :surprised: for a few month until the arb started to make a few noises and was then greased up again at Vw :rolleye: this stopped the noise for good but about 6 weeks ago I heard a clunk and somehow one of the bolt heads that hold the arb clamps in place had come clean off WTF :fighting: but not to worry I had vwr sort it out for me who now look after my car for me and all was well but then clunk snapped arb :sad1:
to say I am not happy is an understatement but we will see what awesome have to say about it when they open and I will post up how I get on with them :happy2:

that very kind of u to offer that to me mate  but I kept my stock one and fitted it last night as it will be having the solid vwr fitted if I get my Money back from awesome
-
wow thats sh*te , i have had neuspeeds on cars in the past and have been very goos , but they were all solid bars .
-
ouch! seems quite dear that mate keep us updated though and GL

....
This is a complete shot in the dark - Could it be that the beefed-up Neuspeed drop links transferred more stresses on the hollow ARB's? The VW oem droplinks possibly have more flex in them.
As I say, this is complete guesswork and anyway I would have expected Neuspeed to have thoroughly tested their combination.
Rightly or wrongly I now have much less confidence in Neuspeed's products and am glad I went for OZ instead of Neuspeed lightweight wheels.
In your shoes, Mat, I'd do exactly the same and take the opportunity to go for VWR ARB's.
-
surely awesome will help you out with it, as they are usually quite good when it comes to things like this,
-
^^^^
Yes, Awesome are very helpful (Andy and Sarah are my favourites) - They were great in sorting out my KoniFSD problem but there's only so much they can do if a product fails as badly as this Neuspeed ARB has and the customer naturally loses confidence, not in Awesome, but in the product.
-
That's unreal!!
You can imagine something like that happening under extreme useage, but not at 30mph! :surprised:
I certainly hope you get it sorted soon and that it hasn't put you off hollow construction ARB's.
The Autotech ARB's are hollow construction too :scared:
-
will defo never buy hollow arbs again as after talking to Mat at vwr he said they dont use the hollow type as they can break :scared: and you should get the solid type pure and simple. I had no idea these were hollow :ashamed: and i just hope awesome sort it as i want my money back on them i think or i want it sorting out , will speak to andy tomorrow and see what he says
-
the standard ones are hollow too

But originally the neuspeed ARB was to stiff for the std drop links, hence fitting the neuspeed drop links, which you would think would have been designed with the bar in mind. either way there has been a bad design somewhere.
Anybody know if the eibachs are solid or hollow.
Im glad this thread popped up, as i almost bought the neuspeed 27mm bar not long ago, so i would have 27mm front and rear.
-

....Their weight suggests they are solid but I don't actually know.
-
eibach arbs are solid
-
sweet, thats good to know. time to find someone who make realy stiff solid rear ones
-
Update
been to awesome today and they were shocked to see what had happened and said they had never seen that before and judging by the looks of the bar think it's been a bad bar from day one ie a defect hence y the og droplinks started banging from only a few months on the car, we think that putting the neuspeed droplinks on has helped make the defect bar last longer than it would have. Awesome said please don't lose any confidence in the product as we will put u a new one on the car to replace this one and if I have any more problems no matter how small they will sort it, even if it's 2 years down the line.
I think it's the best thing to do ie give it a second chance
-
Great to hear you've got a good result :happy2:
-
....
Good news, Mat :happy2:
Awesome are very good like that - They sorted my failed KoniFSD's after they were more than 3 years old.
-

Aftermarket ARBs need to be solid ones to stay on the safer side.
I know stock ARBs also are hollow, but obviously they reach the necessary built quality.
I never heard of broken stock Volkswagen bars, but this isn't the only broken tubular
aftermarket bar. There are others from Hotchkis and APR on several forums showing the
same issue.
If the front sway fails it would even be more serious as the car will oversteer instantly.
:fighting:
-
how long have you had it fitted? have they not revised it recently, so breakages are less likely to happen?
-
It also happens to stock ARBs:
