Hello all hoping someone has the knowledge to help me finally fix my air con on my 1.9 tdi mk5 55 plate.
For a while now I have had no air con and to date have:
regassed
changed pressure sensor (was reading fault code so replaced and wiped the code)
This didnt solve my problem, i have no power to the compressor so still no air-con. Can anyone advise where to check next and how to prevent any future sweaty backs?

Im no expert, but i guess working through this logically may yield a result.
First thing to check is wether the aircon pump is getting power?
If you have access to vcds it may help.
Start by testing the signal from the ac button on the heater panel (output tests in vcds may help).
From there it will probably route through the fuse box (check the fuse) and then to the aircon pump.
You could check their is power at the pump itself with a multimeter?
Ive not tried any of the above, but its a start?
On mine, the electrical connector on the aircon pump is held in with a circlip (and so normally part of the pump). Mine had been smashed off somehow (previous owner).
Worth a look and making sure that connector is intact and the loom is attached to it securely?
Any further codes in vcds?

You have a 55 so I figure you have ECON not AC on your panel?
-
I saw a 54 plate with ac the other day

Taken from another site
Could be a multitude of things.
Obvious things to check/test for are:
- Leak?
- Fuses/Relays all ok?
- 12v at Compressor and Clutch?
- Pressure Switch ok?
- A/C button actually working (I.E 12v at compressor)

You mean it had aircon, or AC on the panel instead of ECON?
When I swapped an ECON panel for AC when putting in heated seats, it killed my aircon actuator, had to get another ECON panel and aircon then worked. OP doesn't mention any changes like this but you can do measuring blocks in VCDS to see whether the switches are working.

Oh maybe it was econ I didn't actually look closely it just had the later style dials my mistake
-
I replaced my econ panel with a later type with AC button and it works fine?

Mine worked fine to the eye and gave no impressions of failure other than AC would not engage, I'm not the only one it happened to, but also it doesn't always happen when you swap panels.
But I doubt this is the OP's issue, just worth checking his panel isn't malfunctioning.
