If any Jetta owners out there can help me. Had my car for about a year now and mabey ten out of a thousand times my boot has completly opened when I've held down the boot release button on my keys.....so the question is are my struts just knackered or was I just lucky these few times?!
Would like to find out an upgraded strut Mabey to replace mine so this ain't just a luck thing

We also have a jetta and it does the same ...it opens more often on hot days from remote ...I also found it was slow opening at the top and I used to push it to fully opened till I heard a pop and I'd snapped s end off one gas strut ..I bought a genuine one from tps £30 and popped it on ..boot opens more on remote now so if I'd changed both I recon it would pop on remote every time just couldn't justify buying two lol

Seems like it was ment to open this then....not sure I can justify sixty quid on two new struts tho (i won't force them either by the sounds of it!)
Might try a bit of lubrication and see how that goes!
Cheers for the reply

No problem ..looks good when it does pop open ..try making sure the seal isn't sticking to boot either

Just seen this guys.
This is worth knowing coz mine just opens a jar and I have to lift it open, not even in hot weather.
Everyone I know with a Passat get this full on boot opening with the key.

If I open it then close it then press remote it flys open even faster
