Post by: Wildengti on September 09, 2013, 08:41:56 pm

As far as I know, the facelifted GT, GTI and Edition 30 Golfs all have the same bumpers. The spoiler or valance along the bottom will all be interchangeable. The Pirelli special edition Golf will also be the same. I have the GT TDi (see signature) and am looking to fit the Edition 30 splitter.

Is the splitter just held on by screws or is it boned to the bumper??

You'll need a T20 (and maybe a T25) Torx, a jack and about 45 minutes if you do it slowly.

Turn full lock to the right, in the left wheel arch there are three (maybe 4, can't remember off the top of my head) screws, take them out. Do the same on the other wheel arch.

Lift the bonnet, undo the two screws on top of the grill. In the grill, below the license plate area there are two more, take them out. Pop the two clips at the top of the grill and pull the grill up and forward gently. Will pop out.

Undo the two screws under the grill.

Jack the car up. Underneath you will see the splitter curve around from arch to arch. Undo all the screws on that, maybe about 10.

Pull the bumper gently off from the front of the car via the arches. Don't pull too far and lay it on the ground, preferably on a towel to prevent scratches. Remove the fog light clips.

Lay the bumper on it's front and pop the tabs out from the splitter. This CAN take a long time, and will probably hurt your thumbs so get ready to man-up.

Once off, do the opposite for the Ed30 splitter, putting the tabs in one-by-one. Don't panic if it doesn't look like it will fit like I did. Haha

I've just done it that way ...20 mins tops to get bumper off ...the first time I fitted one I did it with bumper on as per vw installation instructions ...tbh it's easier to remove bumper
