Title: Back stamping the service book
Post by: Jonathon555 on September 14, 2013, 06:24:09 pm
When we collected our car from the dealer , they had had the cambelt and water pump done by A specialist.

They have given us a copy of the bill for the works carried out

Should I take the service book to the specialist to get them to stamp the book or is a the receipt good enough proof ?

Receipt is good enough for most people but I suppose the stamp will look good in the booklet.
You'll get to know the specialist too which is a good thing (providing he's not too far away)

It would be better yes. Possibly ring them up first to see if they are ok to d it in case of a wasted trip.

My general view is the more paperwork the better as at least they know you have kept meticulous records.

Definitely do it mate. I did the same with my old 530i, service book was missing but I managed to trace the history through BMW then sent the replacement book to each dealer after I phoned them and confirmed they were happy to stamp it.
I sent it recorded delivery and enclosed a stamped addressed envelope so may be worth doing that if the drive is a bit too far for you.
