Hello people, how we doing? I picked up my new car tonight and thought I would join up to the forum. My names Stuart and I'm from sunny Glasgow.
I've been a bit of Honda fan for years, owning many Civics. EJ9, EK3, EK9 Rx and recently a Mugen FN2, I also had a 25th Anni Mk4 Golf inbetween and thats where I got my first taste for the VAG's :happy2: Now I've purchased a MkV GTi Edition 30 so to most of you guys I have probably seen the light..... again!
I had my heart set on yet another Honda until I seen this beast up for sale, as soon as I seen it at its reduced price I had to have it. So anyway tonight I headed down to Durham from Glasgow to pick her up. The drive home was epic to say the least ha :innocent:
Here is her spec list -

The car is a beauty, I'm more than over the moon with it. Having came from 198bhp 142lbft to 353bhp 338lbft it is pretty mind blowing power, even the pull in 6th gear :jumping: The lad I bought it from done me a massive favour holding it for me until I shifted my Civic. He had a a guy on his case quite a bit who had the funds available there and then but held out for me, if your on here Dale. Cheers mate your a legend :happy2:
I've been looking through the site and would just like to say its a great site and the info is top notch, keep it up guys.

Haha Grey is the fastest, a'l take that ;) Your Stu's mate then? Rab is it? Aye a was talking to him before a headed down to get it. I had a drive of Stu's old one before he got rid of it and it was f*ckin mental! Shame he had to shift it.
I take it you work with him? Listen I might get you guys to have a swatch over it, see whats what. I've had a look n it looks pretty tidy, a couple of wee things that are easily fixed... apart from the chassis leg job done to it as the lad before had air suspension at some point! Am not a fan of that! :scared:
-
Yeah bud that's me , just give Stu a phone or text and we'll sort it out from there :happy2:

This is up for sale again guys, a great car but I feel its not for me and believe it or not I miss my Honda's
Since owning it I haven't had to much luck with it but when selling a car I like to be as honest as possible so here goes. A week after owning it the car developed a loud knock from the offside front after giving the car a blast of the throttle. I went home and noticed that 3 wheel bolts were stripped on the drivers wheel :scared: I got the car taken to my work to be checked over, on driving the car into the workshop the wheel flew off (I know who the f*ck drives a car when the wheel isn't fully secured, I thought I could nurse it in but obviously not) On further inspection I found that all 20 wheel bolts on the car had been shortened by around 3 threads and that each bolt was only in by 2 threads.... scary sh*t! God only knows why! My initial thought was that the previous owner or his mechanic had stripped the threads/bolts but then on thinking I reckon that due to the lack of threads in the hub that they have stripped when giving it some. So now I needed to replace the hub/bearing and a full wheel bolt set plus get the bodywork sorted which killed me!
Since then I've found a few other faults that I've had replaced or repaired all using VW OEM parts. Offside front hub/bearing, wheel bolt and locker set, 4 new shocker bump stops, serviced using quantum longlife oil, nearside front balljoint, nearside front CV boot, aero wiper blades, rethreaded the intake pipe and secured, remove nearside front coil spring and refit correctly plus a couple of other bits n bobs.
Back on to the body work scenario. The drivers wing is mangled and the door skin is damaged so went to the bodyshop for a quote and they noticed the rear quarter has been rubbed away by a wheel previously so its now going in to have a new wing, new door skin and new door mouldings plus a full respray on the offside. Including repairing the rear quarter. All using genuine VW parts and a bodyshop that specialises in VAG cars. I could have had the new wing fitted and the door repaired and blended but I'd prefer the job was done right.
I will be making a for sale add up over the weekend so if anyone is interested then feel free to drop me a pm. I have tried to be as honest as I can and I can promise that the car will be in mint condition with everything being 100% spot on.

Jeeeez!
So sorry to here about this Stu! I so very nearly bought that car too, you never know what your getting these days. I bought my ed30 last month and have spent over £1000 replacing OEM VW bits and pieces just for piece of mind! Gut wrenching when you've spent so much on a car and haven't made it go faster yet! Hope you get a good sale price my friend.
You may remember me from the EK9 website? You were trying to buy my B20 integra at one point!

How we doing? Danny is it? Yeah I remember a while back we were close to doing a swap deal with my mk4 Anni and your B20 teg. Thats going back a bit eh. Hope your well fella.
Your right you don't know what your getting these days, to be fair to lad it did look absolutely immaculate when I picked it up. Its a shame about the Golf, I reckon if this hadn't of happened I would probably be keeping it but I can't grow to love it right now so its better off with someone else who can add to it.
How you enjoying your Golf? Why you leave the Honda scene?
-
Yea that's right, good memory :)
I'm loving the golf, mines only in standard form but it's so much more of a car than a Honda ever could be (never thought I'd say that!). I left the scene after selling my last EK9, decided that I'm too old (26) to be driving around in a stripped out track car on the road, ill never forget the joy I use to get from my Honda's but it was time to move on and thinking about it now there's nothing that would temp me to move back, not even a DC5 or FD2! Saying that..this golf is costing me a fortune!
Good luck with your sale Stu, I'll be keeping an eye out :)

OOOO MMMMMM GGGGGG!!!!!
-
Sounds like it's running spacers and doesn't have the required longer bolts. :scared:
-
Tell me about it
It had been running air suspension and Porsche split rims before I bought it. The only thing I can think is that the short bolts were required for the Porsche wheels?? And when the Team Dynamics were fitted with a different offset, the bolts weren't replaced for longer ones. The wheels bolts that were on it had been shortened/cut.
