Title: 2010 petrol 200 BHP SMAX as GTi replacement
Post by: mad_pete on September 15, 2013, 02:18:45 pm: Sad day as GTI has gone. I've got a 2.0 Ecoboost SMAX and I have to say I like it. Didn't really think about it when looking but it's suprised me how good it is. It's still a bus but it's fun to drive, loads of space, powershift (DSG) gearbox.

So if anyone has to up size for family reasons I would recommend taking the 200 or the 240 BHP SMAX out for a test drive.

Titanium or titanium x spec with 18" wheels would be my recommendation.

Post by: mad_pete on September 16, 2013, 01:33:38 pm: It's not a hot hatch so there is less fun in that aspect but it has that same kind of feel to it. You can throw it into a corner and enjoy it, it's not like driving a giant waterbed like some MPVs are and on the plus side the powershift manual selector is the right way round. Forward for down and back for up. I never got my head round the way the golf has it.
