Hi guys bit confused so heres a question I've had my eddy since the 3rd of this month and just noticed that in comparison to my moms mk5 golf Gti and my old mk5 golf my ed30 revs to 7k then slows down etc whereas hers/my old golf goes to 6.5k ish, so I was wondering if this is normal on a manual edition 30
Or do you think it's been remapped or??????
Also this morning I tried to start it and first time it didn't then second time it did, it seems to struggle to start a bit (same as my moms mk5 Gti) this is more so when the car is cold and hasn't been started for a while, is this normal or do
I need new plugs, battery, coil pack? I don't really know a lot about cars so any help would be fantastic!
Thanks!
Jay

How old is car, what miles?

It's done 39k just and it's a 2007 model, I'm not sure what it is really!
Hmmm?? :sad1:

If your struggling to start it from cold, leave the ignition on for a little longer and see if that helps :happy2:
Did the trick for mine

I've already tried that GrayMK5GTI still didn't seem to help really, any ideas on my car running past redline (hits 7k) when I floor it?
Thanks again guys! :jumpmove:

Start problem could be the timing is off a bit

Thanks guys

power wont die of as quick in a edition 30 due to its larger k04 mapped or not

If your ED30 had had a remap you would know about it ! A good Stage 1 Eddy is a flying machine, vastly different in power deployment than a normal GTI.

definitely if you had a std gti you would kno if your ed is mapped as it will be atleast 280-300+

I think the best thing to do is get it on a rolling road! It's lots faster than my moms mk5 Gti!
Il let you guys know how it's goes, I'm just confused as it revs past 6.5k redline and runs to 7k then when it hits 7k it stops/slows the car I'm guessing to prevent engine damage!
Thanks again!

I think you may be getting a bit bogged down with 'where it revs to'. Its a different engine (in certain parts etc). different Turbo, different mapping...... It will rev further on but essentially running to the Red Line constantly, isnt best practice to look after the motor. I think it is a good idea to get it on a Dyno and health check etc. But I would deffo say...................'Not Mapped' here.......... unless you have a huge boost leak. You really wouldnt have to ask if a K04'd motor had been mapped. When mine was mapped to 300bhp it was bloody scary driving it initially
