Hey
I've got a battery draining issue with my 2005/05 GT TDi. Original I thought it was just the battery, so got a new one... but turned out I had a faulty switch in the brake pedal that caused a brake light to come on at night(...?) (strip light on the spoiler above the rear window)... so, got that fixed. Couple of months later , guess what, battery totally drained again... had RAC test the alternator this time too and all is fine, I've checked all lights (boot, cabiole, mirror and so forth) . After reading a couple of the threads on here I came to the conclusion that it might be the Can Gateway thing. Any advice?

Did you upgrade your factory head unit?
-
I have not upgraded or changed anything. As far as I'm concerned its standard as is. I don't know if the previous owner did anything...

Anything else you can think of? I'm totally out of Ideas... might have to take her to a auto electrician soon.

What radio is fitted? If it's one oh the newer ones that may be the cause
-
I've had the same problem recently, thought it might be my sub so disconnected it had the battery and Alternator tested and everything was fine, got it booked in the garage Monday I'll let you know what they say if they come back with anything

Hi there Tommy.
Ive had the alternator tested too and all it fine, it has to be one of the systems draining... ill have to have mine booked in sometime soon too!
-
Try taking the fuse out for the radio if the drain goes then you know it's that . If not take one fuse out at a time and see which circuit has the drain on

If it was me I would have the car scanned First - list of people with VCDS

Then see if it's a module fault causing the issue.
