So there are security issues with this latest upgrade !
You can turn off iphone tracking software even with the screen locked !
You can access the owners email , accounts and settings with the screen locked too !
Anyone tried it ?
This is according to the BBC Website and others
-
I've heard this too, so will stick with IOS6 for a while until the issues are sorted.
-
.
I'm using iOS 7. I don't use email etc on my only iOS device, an iPad2.
The overall style of the new interface looks very slick and stylish but such thin type is very weak and tricky to read in some Apps - Calendar in month view for example.
-
Just downloaded ios 7.0.1 on the iPhone 5s
But not available on my iPad/iPhone 5
Just said it was for bug fixes

I cant seem to replicate any of the security flaws...

I am having trouble being able to change the wallpaper size ie it won't let pinch the image to a size I like on my screen

Thats because of the parallax feature... annoying eh?
-
I upgraded from 5 to 7 and although it looks flashy, there's annoying little things. Like if you save a pic on your phone from the internet, the iPhone would normally zoom in slightly to maximise screen usage. But you could always pinch and zoom out. In iOS7, it just puts the image away into the gallery.
-
From what I've heard about it I'm glad I've only got a 3GS as iOS 7 isn't available for it
-
Was going to upgrade my ipad 3 but will leave off for now until the issues are sorted.
-
Nothing wrong with it. Just media grabbing on to hype as usual. 80% people don't even use a pin on their device anyway.
Been using iOS 7 since beta 3 through to GM and now 7.0.1 on my iPhone 5S and have no issues with it. Really like the interface improvements.
-
I think theyve made improvements in certain areas but they have missed out some part that have been in all previous versions which I dont like. All in all it seems nice and fast, but Im not sold on the look of it yet... Its lost its uniformity!

Same problem have to stand a mile away from my car to make it fit my lock screen
-
Few things I don't like are the calendar as it's just difficult to read and the use of the American term 'trash' rather than good old delete, some is a bit change for change sake and as a friend says 'looks a bit fisher price'

This! If this is sorted out in future updates I will be more than happy with it!
-
I love it, two weeks ago I nearly changed to android and I'm glad I didn't, feels like I have a new phone! However I'm 26...My mum on the other hand is 54 and hates it and I can kind of see why it might not appeal to the more mature user!
-
I like it too it's like having a new phone again
-
You can remove the control centre from the lock screen in settings so I'm guessing that will stop the security flaws.
-
It really slows the phone down though - Anyone else noticed this?
-
Just looked at my phone as the settings didn't say that an update was waiting , it hadn't told me so as IOS7 requires "2.9Gb free space" i had 1.7gb . Why does it need 2.9gb when it is only 665mb ?
I have had to delete all my photos to get it installed , sod the security issues !
-
and as a friend says 'looks a bit fisher price'
They've copied Samsung then?

....That was my criticism too but then I discovered that you can change the Settings > General > Text Size.
And also, Settings > General > Accessibility > Bold Text.
Now I'm finding the whole of Calendar much better than in iOS 6.

There's a lot of helpful info in these 16 pages by Macworld, guys.......

Yes I have noticed that it has slowed my phone down too... But i think this is because i have a 4 and not the 4S.
Does anyone know if it is possible to go back to the previous OS as i really wish i hadn't upgraded it now.
-
You can't. I suspect they did it so you go out and upgrade to a shiny new one...
-
I have noticed the ipad mini battery is substantially reduced with ios7, even after tinkering with settings.

Ha ha I think your'e right... but it wont be another iphone this time.

If you restore your phone through iTunes, would it not revert back to OS6 ?

No... youd need to download a copy of the ISPW file for ios6 and restore it from that ( i think)
-
That won't work, as far as I know. Something to do with blobs!
-
Without wanting to sound childish and contradicting myself...I phukin hate it with a passion on my 4,jerky,slow,poor contrast, visually impared and looks cheap, its fine if your fifteen ....
What a total con job by apple, nowhere did it say I couldn't go back to os6 before curiosity got the better of me, my only option is another phone now, going to shops tomorrow, taking an ios6 iphone whatever number and walking out, phuking arrest me I don't give a sh*te,apple can pay for it on my behalf.
Let you know how I get on from jail

A pain to do though... Below is a C_P from the above link but it sums it up...
If you're an experienced jailbreaker, you may well have previously saved your "SHSH blobs"—a technical term for the saved signatures used for verifying that a version of iOS can run on a particular device. If so, those saved signatures might work now to greenlight a downgrade back to iOS 6. But it's not guaranteed to work, and it only applies to the iPhone 4, which has an older processor. (The security routines in the processor may make a difference.)

So all those months in beta and they've had 2 updates in a week! :stupid:
-
Well im not in jail :happy2:
Didn't get out to shops, asked a few people a few questions and got some differing answers, hopefully you guys can help please.
Has anyone had their phone update itself automatically ?couple of people say theirs have, but didn't say wether it was the operating system aswell.
If I back up my current ios7 iphone4 to icloun/itunes when I come to restore back onto an ios6 phone will it update to ios7 aswell?
and finally, its more than likely I will get an ios6 enabled iphone 5 to use and never update, (and keep my 4 in the family to monitor the changes with ios7), can anyone think of anything that may go wrong that might compromise my use of ios6?
-
^^^^^
If you are jailbroken, then the OTA update is disabled so you can't do an accidental update it to iOS 7, you have to do a DFU update:)
No it won't update the phone to iOS 7 from the backup
If you never update, then at some point you will find that the latest version of Apps won't be available for you they will be only available for iOS 7
The jailbreak for 7 should be out early next year, if Winterboard is updated then you should be able to theme iOS 7 back to 6 - this is what I'm waiting for, I'm happy to stick on a jailbroken iOS 6 phone and wait for the jailbreak and theme the arse out of it
